Unaffordable Big Mac States

McDonald's has ruled the world since April 1955. With 40,275 locations worldwide, many menu items are becoming popular. 

The 1967 Big Mac has evolved since its introduction. This popular dish is sold 900 million times a year worldwide and 550 million in the U.S. 

The 1974 television commercial jingle immortalized the Big Mac, one of the most famous sandwiches in the world:

 A sesame seed bun with two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and onions.

 So popular is the sandwich that The Economist publishes The Big Mac Index, which uses Big Mac prices to estimate global purchasing power. 

The Big Mac debuted in 1967 for 45 cents, or $3.95 today, but it now averages $5.17. Nowadays, sandwich prices vary widely across the U.S.
